Excellent review. To which I added the following comment:
"Given religious misuse of morality over the centuries, I suspect morality (defined as a set of standards to permit practical and useful interactions between humans)evolved because of its evolutionary benefit to groups and was adopted by religious entities to provide credence for their belief system. Just as one could describe behaviors of animals toward each other as a form of morality, so with humans. Whether any of this could be described as rational, I have my doubts. "
